ReShade can be slightly buggy due to how it can work with hundreds of games at once. One main issue is that it can break with the wrong video settings. Make sure your video settings look like the following:
You must turn off lens flares and transparent goalposts, most editors also turn off depth of field, motion blur and weather effects.
Basically, ReShade has access to Rocket League's real time depth map. What does this mean? It means that ReShade can use depth compositing to place objects at certain distances from the camera. This can allow you to create realistic depth of field, fog, or haze, and some more.
It also can give you a raw depth map. However, sometimes it doesn't work particularly well with Rocket League. To fix this, apply DisplayDepth.fx
in the ReShade menu.
You can mostly ignore this, but if the screen turns into something like this:
Then your DisplayDepth is broken. To remedy this, open up the "Edit global preprocessor definitions":
Then, change RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED
to 0 instead of 1. This should fix it, and your depth map should look like this:
Another recurring bug is some items and goal explosions will completely break the depth map. To fix this, simply change the item with something like Replay Itemmod to another item.
This list includes (feel free to message me so I can update this list):
Troublemaker
Singularity
Meta-Blast
Solar Flare
Quasar (I,II, and III)
Supernova
